FAQ: Electrolysis & Hair Removal at Haven Hair Removal
What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis is the only FDA-recognized method of permanent hair removal. It uses a precise electric current to safely destroy hair follicles. Ideal for persistent, hormonally-driven, or facial hair, and clients seeking gender-affirming care.
How is electrolysis different from laser hair removal?
Electrolysis permanently removes hair at the follicle level, even for fine, light-colored, or hormonal hair. Laser targets dark pigmented hair only. It is time-efficient making it better for larger areas but may not remove all hair permanently, especially hormonally-driven growth.
Does electrolysis hurt?
Most clients describe mild discomfort, similar to a pinch or sting. Sensitivity varies by area and individual; hormones & medications can affect sensitivity.
